Hand and machine: the two worlds of pasta production

Pasta is delicious and a favorable dish as per many of them. That includes long spaghetti, small macaroni and stuffed ravioli. Ever wonder how pasta is made? In reality, there are two primary methods of making pasta — by hand or with a machine. Making Pasta by Hand

So it is truly a special job to create your pasta by hand. Homemade pasta that is cut by hand will be full of individuality, character and above all (I hope) taste amazing. Besides that hand-making pasta is full-on skill-based and that to be decent at it you are going to have to do it over and over until things start making sense. But hand made pasta is labour and time consuming to produce, so has been cost prohibitive for ordinary people to buy. 

There are advantages of machine-made pasta on the other side which are faster and more convenient to prepare. It can be produced in large scale very economically. Pasta made by maker pasta machine is more uniform in shape and texture, as well — which I think makes it easier to work with when you actually cook the pasta. But others claim machine made pasta may not provide the special touch or character you enjoy with hand-made pastas. They are of the opinion that pasta made by hand with a lot more love and care speaks for itself, better than any machine made stuff. 

Pasta Making and Technology Today

In today's time technology use is also of great benefit in making pasta. The machines I have listed below can do your mixing, shaping, and cutting of pasta dough very fast and precise so you might be one step ahead of them. These machines have allowed pasta to be produced at a scale that now makes it inexpensive and easy to find on supermarket shelves. This is great news for all Australian pasta loving fans. 

However, it is not all perfect. As all sorts of cooking ateliers brighten up the blind streets, some people speculate whether machines detract from the art and history of making pasta by hand. They believe that when machines take over doing all the work, some of the magic in handmade pasta can be lost. There was also a risk that the pasta could be made with certain machines having an additional ingredient (preservatives) which might not be too good health-wise for us if it kept the pasta fresher longer.

Making fresh pasta is a craft — many people swear by it, believing that it has an inimitable texture that you simply cannot replicate with shop-bought dried pasta. On the other hand, machine-made takes fast and easy pasta-to-dish to a whole new level at the expense of not having tastier flavor that human made pasta gives.
